Well I'm pretty sure it's time for an update. I'm pretty brain dead but let's do this.
Just got back from my trip to St. Louis two weeks ago. Me and 11 other people hopped in a tiny van and drove 12 hours to an Acquire the Fire event up there. We were SWAT and Support...which is basically hand man work getting everything set up and installed for the event, then actually working in the event. It was so fun! It's cool to watch as the event is going on and be like, "Wow...I'm a part of this. I'm helping make this happen. My hard work is actually doing something to advance His Kingdom." And I tell you what there is no better feeling than that. :]
Something else really cool. I work for ATF and I call people to get them to volunteer for the event. While I was at the event, I actually had people ask if I was there so they could meet me in person. It's so amazing to actually see the people you have been talking and praying with for so long. There was one mom who came up to me and just loved on me like crazy. Her daughter was a special needs child but she really wanted to volunteer. And usually we don't ask that they volunteer just because it's all so fast paced and what not. But I talked with her a lot, and I felt comfortable with the girl going. I found her a position that would be easy for her and talked to my manager about it. It wasn't hard or out of my way. I just really wanted this girl to be apart of the event. But to her and her mom this was a big deal. And I don't know, I guess making someone that happy just by helping out was fantastic. And being able to meet them in person and see the impact, it really gives you a purpose and motivation.
They also made me a team captain for the usher squad! I was like I'm pretty sure I don't know anything about this. But none the less they through me out there to do it. And I was so nervous at first. I was going to be in charge of all these people and I hadn't the slightest clue what I was dealing with. They did give me an ear piece and mic though which everyone else was really jealous of. lol :]
But while doing that I learned so much and met a bunch of really incredible people. And I was able to go around and pray with people coming up the the alter which was THE BOMB! Guys it is so amazing just serving the Lord. Even little things do so much!
The trip itself was...interesting. I sat in the back with the boys because we had mroe boys than girls so there was no room for me up front. But that's cool, I sat by Brandon and thought all would be well. Um...no. Brandon fell over and slept on me basically the whole time. There was one point where he ws leaning, drool was slowly dripping out of his mouth, and I was shrinking under his weight trying to avoid the saliva waterfall. That my friends, is strife for Jesus. And half way there our van broke down. In the middle of no where next to a creepy abandoned house too! But we were saved by the fire marshall and some poilce and they took us "down town" for a while. I used the poilce staion bathroom. :] Now how many people get to do that. lol. And my friends got "arrested" :] That was fun!
The trip back...not so fun. Rosa took up all the room and I'm pretty sure my face was pressed against the window. And someone was passing gas the whole time. It was a stretching expierence. :]
